About Terry Worsfold
I wasn't a high performer hiding some secret pain behind a perfect life. I was barely functioning. Insecure, reactive, numb, making terrible decisions constantly, and deeply unsure of who I actually was. I had social anxiety that made basic connection feel impossible. I was people-pleasing to survive. I had multiple suicide attempts across different stages of my life.
Externally I was hitting aggressive sales targets in the advertising industry. Internally I was falling apart. That gap between what I was producing and what I was feeling is something a lot of men understand without ever being able to explain it.
The turning point was a marriage breakdown that forced me to stop collecting information and start implementing it. I'd been on a self-development path for over 10 years by then: working with Tony Robbins in 2014, experiencing Ayahuasca in Peru, studying psychology, hypnotherapy, NLP, neuroscience. The marriage ending was the moment I connected all the dots and realised nobody was coming to save me. The actual shift took months once I committed fully.

A framework for lasting change
Childhood trauma (emotional neglect, absent parents, abuse, bullying), relationship and marital trauma, divorce, grief and loss, betrayal, PTSD, workplace trauma, complex trauma from multiple events, and substance-use patterns driven by unresolved emotional charge.
No. We identify when the emotion was first attached and what the emotion was, in order to release it. We don't need to go into deep detail about any events from your life. This is a critical difference from talk therapy: we're releasing the charge, not processing the narrative.
EMDR uses bilateral eye movements to process trauma. Strong Shoulders uses NLP timeline techniques, memory reconsolidation and polyvagal-informed processing, which access the subconscious through a different pathway. Some clients come after EMDR didn't fully resolve their issues because the underlying nervous system state wasn't addressed first.
Progress varies depending on what you're working on and your starting point. Some clients notice a shift after the first session. Meaningful progress typically emerges within the first few weeks. The first session includes an honest assessment of realistic timeframes for your specific situation.
Strong Shoulders is coaching, not clinical treatment. For complex PTSD with active dissociative symptoms, a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist should be the first point of contact. Coaching can complement clinical treatment for men who are functional but stuck.
Scepticism is common among the men who get the strongest results here. What you need is willingness to engage with the process, not pre-existing belief. Yes. In many cases substance use is a coping mechanism for unresolved emotional charge. By releasing the underlying trauma, the need for the coping mechanism diminishes or disappears. This is not addiction treatment in a clinical sense but often removes what drives the behaviour.
Yes, upon request. Strong Shoulders specialises in men, but women who fit the analytical profile and have tried traditional therapy without resolution are welcome.
